Week 1 – Session#1

Ok, thats not technically true.
I have been going to the gym for the past 2 months, working mainly on my general fitness, lots of running, rowing, a few resistance exercises here, a few pull up’s there, but nothing intensive. Monday night I had a fitness programme booked with one of the instructors up there, just to let him know how I was getting on and how I can update what I’m doing for what I want to achieve.

It went fantastically. Initially I liked the idea of split training each muscle group on a seperate day, 5 days a week (I was doing this at the gym once-upon-a-time) however after a good chat he explained that doing that was probably a bit too intensive for me right now, and that I would be much better off devising two seperate days, one which focus’s on biceps/shoulders/legs, the other triceps/back/chest with a series of core excercises and cardio done every day as well. He showed me all the excercises on Monday, then I did a quick bit of cardio before getting home.

Last night I did the first of the two days, (Lets call it Day#1). It was great. Although the weights he set were a bit lighter than I had been doing on and off, he explained I should be taking 1 full second to pull the weights up, and 2/3 full seconds to lower them which, along with keeping strict form made it a lot more strenuous. Did about 20mins (maybe 3k) of cardio on the treadmill which is a bit disappointing as a few weeks ago I could quite comfortably run 10k, I think the main reason I struggled was because I had done the leg exercises immediately before which made running instantly more difficult.

Over the next couple of days I will post the exact workout i’m doing with the weights etc as well, I usually keep the paper record in a filing cabinet at the gym however will bring it home with me next time.  Coming soon, the first photo!

And So It Begins…

Hey Guys!

Firstly welcome to I Can Transform.

ICanTransform.net has been set up as a way for me to document my quest to getting my own, home-grown perfect body. I want it to help push myself harder at the gym, to help me keep my eyes on the prize! and also hopefully to gain some more knowledge on what I’m doing and how to do it.

A bit of info on me, I am now 23 and although not unhappy with my body I could be a lot happier. I am naturally very skinny and (if my Dad is anything to go by) will continue to be. I dont mind this, it has its perks, I can eat far too much and not put on anything (great if your a girl, im not) but I now feel like an adult, a man and I want a body to reflect this. Plus I also absolutely love martial arts, have dabbled in a lot whilst I was young and now, with the start of a new decade really want to knuckle down in a couple of styles.

So I want to put on some serious muscle, not body builder much, but say Brad Pitt in Fight Club much. I want to get fitter, faster, stronger. The lot.

How will it work? I will post multiple updates per week with how I am getting on at the gym, what I’m learning, how I’m feeling about the workout and then I will post a photo of myself topless(oo-err!)  at the end of that week. With time I should hopefully then be able to see how far I’ve come and perhaps even be inspiration to other people, plus the sheer “scare factor” of having pics of me half naked on the web I can guarantee will make me push myself even harder at the gym.

Up next I’ll post some info on my gym programme so far, how much I’ve been going and what I’m doing. Feel free to comment, i’m not telling any of my friends about this site so if anyone finds it it’ll be a miracle. I will be keeping all the posts very light hearted and to the point. Punctuation and grammar aren’t a major concern. Please keep comments positive, no flaming or spam obviously.
